Learn the inspiration for our space from Interior Designer Jeni Wolsey of Wolsey Wall

Let’s hear a few words on the inspiration for our space from Jeni Wolsey - Principal Interior Designer - Wolsey Wall Architecture + Interior Design.

1) Tell me about your design inspiration and where the key elements of the space came from?

The concept was driven by the idea of transforming the traditional liquor store into an experiential destination—one that’s playful, refined, and rooted in local storytelling. We took inspiration from the notion of discovery and curiosity: what if a store felt more like unlocking a secret vault of knowledge, craftsmanship, and taste? Hero moments like the Vault Tasting Room, BC wine room, and curated “pockets” throughout the space were designed to create surprise, encourage exploration and instagram moments, and provide education. It’s about celebrating community while creating an elevated, memorable experience for every visitor.

2) How does this colour palette support the design?

The palette balances clean, modern tones with rich, bold accents to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere. Neutrals keep the space feeling fresh and open, while details like black shelving and deep textures lend a sense of sophistication and clarity. This contrast helps the products shine and gives each section its own distinct character, supporting both visual flow and intuitive wayfinding.

3) Tell us about the vault!

The actual Vault is the heart of the store! It’s where secrets (mostly in bottles!) are kept and shared. It’s a tasting room designed for discovery, storytelling, and social moments. Whether it’s an intimate wine tasting or a curated spirit flight, the Vault invites guests to slow down and connect with what they’re sampling. It’s moody, tactile, and just a little bit mysterious, and we see it as a signature destination that sets the tone for the entire brand.

4) Anything else fun you want to add?

Yes! We designed this space with shareability and community in mind—there are photo-op moments, local maker stories integrated throughout, and thoughtful educational cues that help people learn as they browse. It’s a place to wander, explore, and come back to, because there’s always something new to discover.
